I have a question about my dial-up connection speed. I used to have a Lucent Technologies 56k Win modem installed. My connect speed was always 26.4k ...I recently bought a US Robotics 56K Performance Pro USR5610B. I installed it and the first few times i used it my connect speed was 48K. Now its always 31.2K...this is a hardware modem thats supposed to rely very little on my pc resources.....Any ideas on why it would have slowed down?? The funny thing is....I have a laptop that i connect to the same phone line. .... it has a Lucent Tech. 56K Win modem in it......it consistently connects at 49.3K....beats me ! My desktop uses Win 98 (1st) and the laptop uses Win 98 (2nd). Any ideas welcome. Thanks,
