The laptop you are looking at will roll down to 802.11b for your 802.11b router.
I HIGHLY suggest getting a new 802.11g with WPA Security. You have to do so much to get 11b secure and it still is breakable. With 11g aka 54g, you get more security. I will be upgrading my WAP soon just because of that, even though I will not put a 54g card in my 6 month old laptop. (The shmucks put a 11b/a card and should have put in a b/g or a a/b/g card in it.) Stay away from DLink, they are junk. I was working on a friends I could get the computers to talk to the DLink WAP wirelessly and the DLINK to talk to BrightHouse, but I could not get the communication between the for internet access. A normal WAP at that point would work. A person on my mailing list says the fix for DLink is to return it. Stick with my favorate NetGear who makes equiptment for corps and so does Linksys (now Cisco).
