Jeff:

Have you tried formatting the cells as Text, as opposed to General or some
other numeric format? Text formatted cells are treated as text even if they
contain numeric data.

Following is an excerpt from Excel 2003 Help on formatting existing numbers
as text:

"Format existing numbers as text
If you've already entered the numbers, you can change the numbers to text
 data.

Select the cells that contain the numbers you want to format as text.
On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab.
In the Category list, click Text, and then click OK".

Hope this helps.

Subject: PCWorks: Excel/ *.CSV help...(And Quick Books)

OK...I'm getting a little fed up with this excel program...why is this
program designed to change the values?
First, I have a database of info that I have to save with the commas to
import to their final locations.I can't open them while they are in the CSV
extension, because then the values, namely part numbers, will change to some
formula. I've asked for help on this a few months ago and no one had a
concrete answer for me.
Now, I have the option to export my inventory from Quick Books to CSV or
PRN. I never heard of PRN, so I chose CSV and what do you know, the parts
numbers are changed after the import.
I've created a new default template according to the help section and it
still does it.
