My computer is an XP 2.4 GHz with 512MB RAM. It is about a year old. After working on the Internet for some time - sometimes even less than an hour - strange things happen with my dialup connection. I can no longer use the Internet or send/receive e-mail (I use OE6). The Network Connections icon (showing two computers that are connected) still shows that I am on-line.
If I restart the computer, everything is fine - until it happens again. I may have to end some other tasks with the Task Manager, but not always. There is no consistent pattern about what tasks have to be ended, and I can see nothing consistent about what would trigger the dialer failure. I've checked for viruses. I suspect a memory problem - it may be refusing to release the memory after using it. However, this problem does not occur when using other programs, such as Office. What could be causing the problem? David Grossman ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
