Ho boy, here's more posts I found the archives I never received
on the matter at bottom.

Clint,
Go to "view source" and see if the HTML coding is there. If so,
may help you retrieve some of them.

Hi Clint

Here is a starting point http://tinyurl.com/35jc6 I hope you
backed up the Encrypting File System Certificate or the
old PC is still usable so you can export it.
Good Luck

Thanks to Jeff and Tom for the replies. Jeff, I tried that.
When I open any of the encrypted HTML or .mht files, I get
"action canceled", and the only source to view is the "action
canceled" text. :-(

Tom: no, nothing was saved. I was not aware (of course) that
this would happen, so I was not aware that any keys had to be
copied. The old HD was formatted over. I tried some data
recovery programs that are "supposed" to get data back even
AFTER a reformat, old data from the previous format. They
don't work. :-( All I was able to see was data that was
deleted from the NEW format.

Hi all. I have thousands of saved webpages in the form of .mht
webpage archive documents. After getting on a new PC, NONE of
these files can viewed! Opening any of them and I get "the
page cannot be displayed"! This was the ENTIRE contents of "My
Documents" which I saved on a storage drive. Apparently, this
problem is because the files were all encrypted since I tried
other saved .mht files and I can open them! I CANNOT DEcrypt
the files now! Every time I try and unencrypt or decrypt
ANYTHING in the My Documents backup by unchecking the box
"encrypt contents", it says "an error occurred while trying to
apply attributes to this folder"! What's going on here? This
means MY ENTIRE "My Documents" IS LOST! This is about 2gb of
priceless irreplaceable data including dozens of passwords in a
Notepad file, customer data, the list is endless!
