THE choice among the most popular ones is, no doubt,
Yahoo Messenger.
My personal choice is Paltalk, (www.paltalk.com) mainly
because it manages the audio superbly. (I used it to talk to my
daughter 7000 miles away)
If audio quality is one of your goals, choose Paltalk; Yahoo Messenger
is pretty good, though, and as far as I remember it's free of spyware
and whateverware.
Stay away from AIM and if you're not in need to communicate whith
the whole galaxy, better not use ICQ (yes, it has been bought by AOL)

Hi Gang,

It's been years since I have used an Instant Messaging
program, but now I have a real need for one. Can I get
suggestions on the best available right now? I used to
use ICQ, but hasn't that been bought out by AOL?? Is it
still any good?

Thanks,
Marlene
