Jeff, tell him to run ALL of the anti-malware programs and online scanners. I posted them to the list the other day, it's in the archives. "HijackThis" may show something. I assume he's running the latest def's for his AV software and did scan with it? -Clint
God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) LEARN how to use email! The ENTIRE internet thanks you!!) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Dougherty" I am posting this for a friend of mine...with hopes someone can help. I have an XP question that is driving me nuts! Every once and a while my desktop changes and I get a grey bar 2" wide on the left side of the screen going top to bottom with Folder Tasks, Other Places, and Details in it. It is the very same thing that shows up in folders if, when you click on Tools - folder options - and choose "show common tasks in folders" except this is on my desktop. Would you know how to make this go away? I used to do system restore to get rid of it, but for some reason my system restore won't work right. That keeps saying unable to restore (so I just created a new restore point). He also told me he ran Spybot and Adaware and was clean. Thank you.
