Recently, I had the following problem with my computer for two days. When I booted up my, just as soon as HP WindowsXP came up, my monitor screen turned black and the following message appeared across the screen: OUT OF RANGE. That's as far as I could get. I tried opening in SAFE MODE and then SYSTEM RESTORE. System restore didn't work.
Finally I decided to use the SYSTEM RECOVERY PROGRAM that some HP Pavilions come with on the hard drive. Of course that solved the problem. It runs like a new computer now, but I have had to redownload all the software that I have added since I bought this computer (like printer, scanner, etc). This really is a nuisance, and I'm afraid I have lost a few folders that I had saved. In case this should happen again, can any one tell me what I can do rather than redoing my entire operating system.
