Help! This is making me crazy! I have a three PC wired network, all running xp. Connected to it is an access point for a 4 PC wireless network for internet connection only. this setup has been working flawlessly for nearly a year now. A few days ago, our internet connection became very erratic, but no problems whatsoever with the network connection. Of course I have called our provider (Comcast) and they report no problems.
I had a similar problem which got fixed totally when I took out all the plugs and power cords of the router and cable modem, and plugged them back in after about 10 minutes. In your case the connections to the access points as well.
Apparently this does some kind of a hard reset which is occasionally necessary.
