Hi Harold, I get this on my 98 box from time to time too, it's a pain :(
In C:\Windows look for a file with a pwl extension, something like harold.pwl or its like. Delete this file. Then go to your desktop and right click on Network neighborhood and choose Properties, then in the Primary Network Logon switch to Client for Microsoft Networks.
Restart your computer, and when the password box comes up again enter a user name and leave the password blank, if a confirmation is asked then leave it blank as well.

Hello again,
I might be missing a certain pwl file because upon rebooting I get that window asking for my user name and a password. A side question here is exactly what do they mean by a "user" name in this context?
Anyway, I enter my email user name, "harold7" and do not enter any password thinking that this window will not appear next time I reboot. Problem is that it continues to appear on each rebooting. Any idea what the solution is? ... Harold
