No doubt my comments will probably "offend" someone. > [/rant] > > Ok. ;-) I didn't see any "Pic for this week" on that page. > -Clint > > God Bless I'll jump in on the bandwagon here, or rather off of it... I find many of those who are "religious" to be self-righteous bigots themselves who use God as a tool to their means... This turns me off... I do find some people whom I consider to be truly good people, some have found God, some have not... I think I'm a good person, I have not found God nor do I intend to... I guess I'm too rational a person... I can't sit there and say to myself "God did this because I prayed for it" or "it was the haaaaannnnnd of Godddddd", what garbage... TV, boobs, nudity, cuss words - they have nothing to do with how good a person is... I've known people who cuss like a sailor who have hearts of gold and people who smile to your face and make you feel all good inside only to find out they are stabbing you in the back... I'd rather the former person as a friend myself... Intolerance? I don't care if someone goes to church and reads the bible as long as they practice what they preach... I get tired of the religious people who tell ME that *I* need to go to church or I won't be saved, or that someone is going to this church so they won't go to heaven, etc etc etc... How about the intolerant religious people who say Harry Potter is evil and full of the devil? How about the intolerant religious people who won't have anything to do with those outside of their own faith? Sounds similar to those who won't have anything to do with someone outside of their own race, doesn't it? I once was on a mailing list where someone started talking about her beliefs in Wicca... I had never heard of Wicca/Paganism before, I don't believe in it now that I know about it but that's my own personal opinion... But I'm all for letting others talk about their religious beliefs... Well, wouldn't you know it? The "Christians" got all offended and were either voicing their opinions against this person or were quitting the mailing list... How's that for intolerant? Not once did the girl who believed in Wicca attack the Christians nor did she scrutinize their beliefs - she felt that they had their right to believe what they wanted... But the same should have gone for her... How about that bozo congressman in Alabama who was willing to break the law to keep the stupid statue of the 10 Commandments up when he was told it was to be removed but yet I'd bet he wouldn't blink an eye if someone told him he needed to remove a statue of Aphrodite from somewhere... It just gets me how those who use religion as a reason for being good will themselves break the law for their own means and for their own personal reasons... God is in the eye of the beholder (as the cliche goes)... I say it's Mother Nature and what happens happens, no intervention by some supernatural being... I just can't understand how a society which has come so far in science can still cling to the God theory... I don't say God should be outlawed, people should believe what they want to believe... But don't you dare tell me I'm a bad mother or a bad person because I don't go to church or don't believe in God... I personally believe in the "Freedom of Speech" and "Separation of Church and State"... Without Freedom of Speech either the two of you above or I would have to remain silent and would not be able to state what we feel... Seperation of Church and State is important... You have Church to go to to do your praying and you can do it at home and on social gatherings with others who feel the same... But don't you dare force it upon me in the government which is supposed to be impartial to everyone... You've got your church to go to, you don't need to put religion in government as well... Nor in schools... That is what church is for... I accept the fact that you should have the right to say what you want, on the same token so should I... That's my rant...
