Thanks Keith. I didn't think to search for this since I didn't think I'd
find anything. I did. The hits are all from message boards and forums of
others asking the same question! Seems to have something to do with power
management or heat management. For better or worse, I'm not sure.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,9686112~mode=flat (another interesting
comment there about driver updates from the M$ website. Almost every hit I
read, mentioned that same thing about bad updates).

Ah, check this out:

Do a control-F there for "March 22nd, 2004, 02:20 AM". Yet another person
with the Windows update site comments. Strange how this has turned into
another Update Site issue! At any rate, you can see how this specific update
messed things up for him. So now, I'm not sure whether to install it or not.
All it takes is one person.

I believe that it is a power update for the AMD processors. Whatever, I
did update it and have not experienced any adverse effects.

Would anyone happen to know just what exactly the AMD CPU entry is for under
"Driver updates" at the Windows Update site? As usual for driver updates,
they give absolutely no information about it. All it states is "Advanced
Micro Devices processor software update released on Dec. 17 2002." Last time
I installed any driver update I couldn't even boot my PC afterward, so I'm
not about to install it without more info. This is on a customer's PC, not
mine. I'm P4. ;-)
