Clint, in case you have forgotten, Dale is running WinMe and PageDefrag
will not run on Win 9x/Me. It runs only on NT/2k/XP/2003.
However, Diskeeper Lite runs on WinMe fine.

The key word is "RUN" all of the AV scanners (as in online), not *install*
them. :-)
Sometimes having more than one AV installed on a PC and them running at the
same time is bad, and can cause some slowdowns and problems. But if you have
all but one disabled you can sometimes get by with that without any problems.
I'd also try and defrag your pagefile.
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pagedefrag.shtml Usually the XP
native defrag is ok, it's LOADS better than '98/ME. However it can leave
many fragmented files behind of which you will not be aware. That's why
Diskeeper is good, especially on '98. But be warned after you run it you
have to cont-alt-del out of the executable since it will continue to run in
the background, and you have to disable it from MSCONFIG since it will also
insist on loading with Windows.

Ped,
Mostly, I'm only having this trouble with the C drive, the slave HD (D
drive) goes through defrag with no problems at all.
Yes, it is the Windows version.

In the first place, I'm not quite sure AVG is working. It runs
nicely, but hasn't caught a virus in over a year, meanwhile when I first
tried the
McAfee a few months ago it caught one, and again a few weeks later.
Secondly,
nearly everybody here tells me that I should run dozens of different AV's
because just one won't catch everything. They each have their own realms.
Thirdly, I've never had any conflicts between the two before.
Well, I'm off to run McAfee and hope it doesn't take 56 hours again.
