Harold, I know we've dealt with this before. Anyhoo, in Word, it's one of the Autoformat options: Uncheck "Replace Straight quotes with smart quotes". Now, if you'd been using 1stPage 2000, this would never have been a problem-and it has a "replace" function as well. **************************************************************************** **************
