Did you check the manual for proper connections? Sometimes these boards are setup by default to 5.1 or similar, or for 2 speaker stereo. The speakers have to be hooked up to the correct jacks. Usually the jacks are different depending on the audio mode. You also sometimes have to open the software "mixer" for the integrated sound and go into its properties and change the type of setup there (to 2 speaker, 3, surround, whatever). Some mobo's have a jumper that needs to be changed as per the desired audio mode.
Once you are POSITIVE it's in the correct mode and speakers are hooked up to the correct jacks for that mode, and if you still have the problem, check the Windows audio properties (that advanced volume control where you have the slider control panel). Make sure none of the sliders are max'd out since that will create too high of an output creating distortion and anomalies. For example, if you check the "line in" slider and it's all the way to the top, move it down to maybe 3/4ths or 5/8ths the way up instead of all the way. You'll have to turn up the volume on your speakers a bit after that. The reverse can also be true; the slider controls may be too LOW and your volume controls on your speakers may be too high. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason Arroyo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi all. The built-on 5.1 digital audio that came with my Gigabyte motherboard has standard audio in, out, and mic ports too for the non-digital stuff, as well as its digital ports and fiberoptic out. I don't use that stuff tho, just the standard analogs. My PC speakers are hooked on the analog output. I hear constant low level static, and whenever I hear the mouse or the hard drive accesses a lot, I hear it reflected in the rythmns of that static. What can I do to get the sound clean? -J ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
