Harold, are you running 98 or 98SE?

Acrobat reader 5.05 is for 98 while Clint is correct that version 6.01 is for 98SE and above.

Finally accomplished the task, thanks to all. I downloaded the basic version
(which is Acrobat Reader 5). I was originally looking at the Standard
version, $399, and AR Pro, costing more. What I had originally was AR 4
which don't recall had an image selector tool, and when I did "select all",
only the text would highlight ... that still puzzles me..Let's forget the
gymnastics I was trying with MSWord :) ... I was pasting different sections
in thinking it would all come together as one graphic to be recopied into a
jpg file.

Now with AR 5 I reduced the size to fit the screen and of followed with
selecting the image (text with it), copy/pasting it into IrfanView (or
Lview), and all is done ... everything is very easy when you "know how". So
now good bye AR 4; I'm not going to put it back but I'm wondering how it was
done with that version ... Harold

Is there a way to change a PDF file into one jpg? What was sent to me is a

poster (a picture with text on it) with a height greater than the desktop window. Therefore using "PrintScreen" won't capture the entire poster. So ingenuity to the rescue and still nothing worked:

Try this: zoom out on the image until you can see all of it, then pick the
"select image" tool and select the outline of the image (it's hard to see
the cursor). Then, right click and "copy" then paste into IrfanView. It will
be actual size of the original graphic ... Clint

Karl said ... When you launch v6.0 it's slow even on a fast machine. FWIW

there's a utility to speed up the process for most users at <http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk> called "Adobe Reader Speed-Up". From the readme file:

"Adobe Reader Speed-Up (ARSU) was created in an effort to automate the

process of speeding up Adobe Reader's launch time by disabling the majority of plugins that are, quite frankly, completely useless for most users." ... Karl

Thanks, Karl ... I'm passing up on all that; what I have now is doing more
than I'll ever need. However, I'm reposting it as more experienced users
might find it useful.

Jorge said ... Just select IMAGE instead of text. If you want it high

resolution, zoom it in after selected and copy it to the clipboard. Then you can work with it with any graphics program just by pasting the graphic file and save it in your favorite format. You can do whatever you want with that pic, but not with Word which is not a graphics program. There are thousands available, maybe The Gimp is the most complete among the free ones. Besides that, if you are not satisfied with Acrobat 4 you can download Acrobat Reader 6 for free. good luck ... Jorge
