Hello again

Logs for a fireplace (there I have neither); logs for the computer (there I have 181); that's over 30MBs. Right now in the recycle bin I have 161 (maybe 12 were originally hidden), all ready to go back or go out. And still in the system I have 20 which I'll keep (they wouldn't move to recycle bin, "being used by running programs;" even though overtly I have everything shut down.). And after a full reboot, everything is working fine on the computer. I'm sure many have been regenerated; nothing I can do about that. Question: Considering that in 10 years I never once looked at a log, what are they for and do I need them?
