I find RegSeeker excellent for cleaning out the registry and it has a built-in backup. I originally got mine from http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm and/or http://www.webattack.com/get/regseeker.shtml ... I"m sure googling can find you an appropriate source. It's free and once installed has many other features you might find useful.
