Summary: click to patch, shift-click to patch multiple

Initial Comment:
There has been recent discussion about new patching behavior in Pd. (10/10/07)

Kevin McCoy posed the idea that one could click on an outlet and the interface
would create a patch cord that would follow your cursor until you clicked on an
inlet, at which point the link would be established. This would be an
ergonomic boon instead of the current practice of click-and-drag.

Shift-click: One outlet, multiple inlets

I would also like to add the idea that after you click the initial outlet, you
could hold shift as you click the inlet and the Pd interface would establish
the patch link and create another patch cord from the same outlet that you
could then attach to another inlet.

Shift-click: multiple inlets, one outlet

Also, if you hold shift while click multiple outlets, you would form a bundle
of patch cords that would follow your cursor until you click on an inlet.

Both of these ideas would speed up patching a great deal for many situations
and would be enabled by the new click system.
