In vanilla you have to instantiate the class, at your own risk, pray that
it doesn't have mandatory arguments that you don't know about, and pray
that it doesn't open any device, etc.
In desiredata, you have
t_class *class_find (t_symbol *s);
which I added in february 2004, iirc.
