Summary: Segfault when setting alsa midi devices

Initial Comment:
In the rare event of raising the number of alsa midi devices from 0 inputs and
0 outputs to something higher (through the alsa-midi menu), pd crashes. It
should be possible to reproduce like this:
1. Open alsa-midi dialog and set In ports to 0, Out ports to 0.
2. Open the same dialog and set the ports to anything > 0.

Backtrace attached. I'm on Ubuntu 9.04, 64 bit. It happens both with
0.41.4-extended and vanilla 0.42.5.
