is it only me that cannot open files via "open"?

i get:
<snip>
bad option "-cursor": must be bbox, cget, compare, configure, count,
debug, delete, dlineinfo, dump, edit, get, image, index, insert, mark,
peer, replace, scan, search, see, tag, window, xview, or yview
bad option "-cursor": must be bbox, cget, compare, configure, count,
debug, delete, dlineinfo, dump, edit, get, image, index, insert, mark,
peer, replace, scan, search, see, tag, window, xview, or yview
    while executing
".pdwindow.text -cursor watch"
    (procedure "::pdtk_canvas::started_loading_file" line 3)
    invoked from within
"::pdtk_canvas::started_loading_file [format "%s/%s" $basename $filename]"
    (procedure "open_file" line 5)
    invoked from within
"open_file $filename"
    (procedure "menu_open" line 6)
    invoked from within
"menu_open"
    (command bound to event)
</snip>

when i remove the offending line, i get

<snip>
bad window path name ".pdwindow.tcl.entry"
bad window path name ".pdwindow.tcl.entry"
    while executing
"grab set -global .pdwindow.tcl.entry"
    (procedure "::pdtk_canvas::started_loading_file" line 4)
    invoked from within
"::pdtk_canvas::started_loading_file [format "%s/%s" $basename $filename]"
    (procedure "open_file" line 5)
    invoked from within
"open_file $filename"
    (procedure "menu_open" line 6)
    invoked from within
"menu_open"
    (command bound to event)
</snip>

when i turn on the tcl-prompt, it finally succeeds in opening the file.
