My understanding is, that the sub-releases (eg 0.55-1, 0.55-2), are *bugfix* releases. The mentioned PR is not a bugfix, but clearly a new feature. I also think it needs more testing from various people on various platforms with different keyboard layouts. Also, I would like it to be accompanied with <https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/2383>, which certainly needs more testing (AFAIK nobody but me tested that yet). Since the two PRs conflicts, my plan is to have both tested independently, and then merge them manually into a single PR.
