Not at all. I look forward to a time when it's easy to get joystick events into Pd in a cross-platform way. In the meantime I might write a very simple SDL external to do just what I need, or persue Frank's idea of wrapping [joystick] and [hid] depending on the platform. I'd definately switch to what you guys are working on once it's working on all platforms though.
