mencoder input.wmv|asf -nosound -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mjpeg -of
lavf -lavfopts format=mov -o outfile.mov
(this doesn't encode any sound into the new file)

yeah: as suggested in the helpfile [pdp_qt], respectively [pdp_qt~]
