If I remember correctly, the Ardour installer doesn't put the plugins under the /usr tree, but rather under /Library/Frameworks, is that the case? Do you actually have plugins in /usr/local/lib/ladspa or /usr/lib/ladspa? You said you set the environment variable, is it really set? What's the output of 'export | grep LADSPA' ?
