The vanilla pd.tk can be edited to set the canvas background colour. At line 914: canvas $name.c -width $width -height $height -background white \ change white to something else. You can also edit proc pdtk_text_new to get coloured text, but lines are not changeable in vanilla unless you modify the source code in about 5 separate places.
