Unless there is a hardcoded limit in [hid] this shouldn't be a problem.
Your OS should give each gamepad a new HID device number. I imagine
you'll need a USB hib for this. Getting those to be consistent (third
gamepad is always [hid 7] for example) could be more difficult, however.
