Hello,
I made a test with Pd version 0.42-5 and GEM: ver: 0.92.1
GEM: compiled: Sep 22 2009
And the text2d object with antialias, I view a crasy performance
difference between windows and Mac.
Same patch - same Pure Data - Same Gem
Patch :
http://www.th-th.fr/DOCS/Test-Gem/main-test.pd
MAC OS X - 10.5.6
2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
=> CPU load in percent 25%

Windows XP - Service pack 3
2 GHz Intel Pentium M
=> CPU load 4.6%

Is that normal?
yep.
[text2d] uses bitmapped fints, which generally perform way worse than
vertex-based fonts like [text3d]
