Hi,

I have the same system as you (the only dif is I pacthed it for RT kernel),
here's utput of $uname -a:
Linux  2.6.31-9-rt #152-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT RT Thu Oct 15 05:01:14 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux

I also installed PD from synaptics and seems the same version:
$ pd -version
Pd version 0.41-4
compiled 00:27:04 Nov  7 2008

Try several things:
- check your OpenGL first (in console try: $glxgears)
- try launching pd from command line with -verbose and -debug
<some-level-like-3> and see if you get any more help than just that seg
fault.

Best of luck,
Pedro
