this will override all default CFLAGS and LDFLAGS, and the former might be ignored by Gem's build process since it uses c++ and thus CXXFLAGS will apply. the Gem way to do this is to specify the fat architectures via configure _flags_: $ ./configure --enable-fat-binary=i386 will in the end create a "fat" binary that holds (only) i386 binaries. fgmasr IOhannes
