If your patch is named foo.pd, send a "vis 1" message to it to give the window 
the focus, like this:

[vis 1(
|
[pd-foo.pd]

Automation is tricky.  In pd-extended or vanilla it will crash pd if you try to 
get a patch to close itself. 

Ivica made a fix for that in pd-l2ork-- which should work if you're only 
opening/closing every 2 

minutes-- but I'm not sure if it's still crash-proof.
