I don't have Pd-extended, but I tried loading with a recent version of Pd-l2ork
and didn't get an error.

yes, but what about if you load a patch with [pow~] in it? Do you get that
error message?
(Sorry, I'd do it myself, but i really don't want to install a new version of
pd right now, as i'm in the middle of a job)
