When I follow these I'm getting:

If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.

The alternate instructions hang first on a missing [?] file
"alsa/asoundlib.h" (which may be /usr/include/sound on my system?) & then
generate pages of further errors.
I hate to wimp, but this is not working...
