maybe.
i think that the current behaviour is more confusing (for those
affected) than the old one, because:
- on a US keyboard layout '+' and '=' are on the same key; needing a
modifier key (or not) is slightly annoying at best: at least you are
already pressing the correct key.
- on a GE keyboard layout '+' is usually besides the [return] key, but
'=' is 'Shift'+'0', which is about 3 keys away from the '+' and has
absolutely no hint that this is supposed to be the "right" key.

furthermore, the Menu should not say "Ctrl++" if it really means "Ctrl+=".
