That is confusing... in every OS (windows, Mac, linux/unix) th file written out has only unix-style line feeds to separate lines. I thought it was a better idea to maintain exactly the same file format than to vary it to be the most "native" possible one. Very old Windows programs sometimes got confused by linefeed-only files, but I haven't seen this happen for at least a decade or so.
