i only know this behavious when having CAPSLOCK enabled: Pd's shortcuts
are case-sensitive, so while <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>-<kbd>e</kbd> will switch to
edit mode, the similar <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>-<kbd>E</kbd> (aka
<kbd>Ctrl</kbd>-<kbd>Shift</kbd><kbd>e</kbd>, aka <kbd>CapsLock</kbd>
<kbd>Ctrl</kbd>-<kbd>e</kbd> will not.

other shortcuts have the same behaviour.
