There's also the best-case scenario where you have already loaded multiple 
[coll]s or where you do some offset, so you don't need to access the disk any 
more.

Or if part of the RAM is used as a virtual HD.

There's always a worst-case scenario for a system call blocking on loading even 
a small file that would involve dropouts. Nothing is guaranteed when you read 
from disk.
