that's probably to generic.
i really meant, that you shouldn't abuse patch open/close to
enable/disable certain "data processors".
Pd has dataflow objects for these kind of operation ([route], [select],
[spigot], [moses], [change],..)
i only mention this because i think you use this automatic patch
opening/closing as a software-pattern.
although it's nice that Pd can do those kind of things ("look ma, window
chaos"), i think you might be using an anti-pattern.
