I just found this proposal: http://www.firmata.org/wiki/Proposals#ShiftIn.2FOut_Proposal If someone would be able to implement this on the Firmata side, I'd happily support it in [pduino/aruduino]. I don't know how actively Firmata is being worked on, but maybe bring it up on their list (if they have one). Roman
