If by any chance you were using writesf~ or readsf~, you might have tripped a concurrency problem that I think I circumvented in commit 8049fa849e9ac728251715feae4db3c369904400 . The symptom was that the patch kept running but the GUI quit updating after hitting a message box that set off a writesf~.
