You should have a printer named Distiller printer.

If not, you should download the Distiller ppd from the Adobe website, and then create a printer using that PPD.

A PRN file can be distilled, if you change the extension to .ps.

Ahhh..that was just the hint I needed. I have 4 network printers available to me and so I did a print-to-file to each. 1 of the 4 produced a file that Distiller liked.

Thanks Cy (and Martin) !

Was the print to file done with a postscript printer driver?

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but...I tried running Distiller (5) on a PRN file the other day, but it didn't like it and wouldn't distill. Is there a way to distill these types of files?
