All depends...

If litho printing then there is black and there is rich black. Generally speaking 
pantone black is a little on the grey side and if you want it to be deeper you would 
use a 'shiner' to enrich the colour. This is achieved by adding a tint of say 40% cyan 
to the pantone black so that you print both colours at the same time to give a more 
rich colour. If you were to print all four colours 100% you would end up with a muddy 
mess for sure.

Basic colour question: black's black colour. Is it just 100K (black in photoshop) or 
is it 100%C, 100%Y, 100%M and 100%K. Can you advise. Colour look sketchy on pdf and 
pdf is perfect proofing tool that colour printouts can over look. Alma.
