Hi: In MS Word, Acrobat menu, conversion settings, Compression tab, are the options for image compression. Mine (for colour) is set to Bicubic downsampling to 300 dpi if above 450dpi. I am pretty sure I understand that a 400dpi image would be left as is but a 600dpi image is reset to 300dpi. A group of people I work with set the editorial standards for submitted colour graphics to 600dpi but they use the same settings I have which means the colour graphic will be down sampled to 300 dpi. On the other hand, they set the black and white submission standards to 400 dpi which according to the settings, will be left at 400 dpi. Will they notice a difference between the quality of 400dpi images and 300dpi (downsampled from 600 dpi) when printed on a 600 dpi printer? Slightly off topic but related to my question. Laser printers are generally marketed as 300/600/1200 dpi printers. If an image is set to 400 dpi, how to 300 and 600 dpi printers handle it?
