What a convoluted workflow!!! How do you manage the fonts between systems?
This is going to be difficult even if you are using system fonts such as
Arial and New Times Roman.

Here is what I'd try, but there are no guarantees of success:

1. Print your Freehand file to the Adobe PDF printer (OS X), or the Adobe
Virtual Printer and Distill (System 9).

2. Save the PDF as a Word doc.

3. Open it and see what you get.

You may have to tinker with the Word doc to get it to look like your
Freehand file.

There are PDF tools that could do a better job of the Word conversion, but
they require an investment which may or may not be worth it.

I hate it when I design a project and someone wants to work with it in Word.
It's a heartache and headache waiting to happen.

Good luck with this.

Hi all

We work on MACS. I got copy for an advert sent to me via email as a word
document. I used the copy supplied and set the advert in FreeHand. The
customer wants me to supply the complete advert as a word doc to him.

>From Freehand, I've created a word doc via the EPS - Distiller - Acrobat 6
route.

Problem is, the the word doc opens up as a pic in word. The client wants to
ammend the "new Word doc" for other uses.

I also noted that the text "overflow" outside the original Freehand document
area can be edited in Word, but not what's on the actual document area.

Is there a way to edit the text on the actual document area, in Word?

Hope this makes sense!

Many thanks.
