Sorry James, but I can tell you for sure it's not due to Keith using a Mac, but I would agree that there are a few possibilities. I have placed hundreds of ads, as pdfs, in Quark 4.11 using OS 9.2 and I have never had the Mac freeze up when placing the ad. It does on occasion take a little time to import, say 15-30 seconds for large pdfs. A better guess would be that the pdf itself has issues, especially since it is an intermittent problem. I make all the pdfs that I place and therefore control how they are made, if Keith places a pdf provided by someone else, who knows how well it was made(pdf writer?, word?, etc).
