Hi,
I'm trying to convert 125 Adobe Illustrator files into PDF files. The creator used
Illustrator 8 and I have Acrobat 5.05 with the Distiller coming along with it.
The files are written in French, so there are accentued characters : " , , , , ,
etc. ".
The font use in the original files is Arial.
My problem is that in the convertion using Distiller, I'm losing all accentued
characters. When I'm using the touch up tool in the resulting PDF, all the characters
are now "ArialMT" instead of "Arial"... How come? Isn't Arial a very common font?
I tried to configure my Distiller many ways :
with the Embed all fonts enable,
without the Embed all fonts,
with "Arial" manually added to the "Always embed",
My Adobe TypeManager (ATM) is installed, but I'm not sure how it can help me solve my
problem...
One thing is strange to me : in my font directory ("windows/fonts") I can see that
"Arial" is installed, but when I'm looking into the directory of fonts to be embeded
in Distiller (where the directory "windows/fonts" had been add) I can only find
"ArialMT, Arial Bold, Arial Black, etc." and no "Arial"... Is this normal?
Note that if I'm using the PDFMaker of Illustrator (save as) to generate the PDF,
everything is working fine, but I have to go through each and everyone of the 125
files individually, instead of dropping all the files at once in Distiller...
Can someone help me configure my system so that I can use Distiller?
Eric
