We host large document collections on secure extranets and our users view the PDF files using the plug in for IE 5.x or 6.x. A number of users have complained that their systems lock up and announce virtual memory errors after moving through a number of documents (sometimes 20, sometimes more) They are frustrated and often have to reboot to get back to where they were. I have heard that Acrobat has a memory leak at least when using IE but it seems erratic. I can't reproduce it with Acrobat 5.05 but our clients are angry. The best advice we have so far is to use Reader 5.1, which supposedly fixed the leak. We can't go to 6.0 yet because there is a bug in the plug in that will err on pdf files regularly. Adobe has recognized the bug but we haven't gotten a fix date yet. If anyone has any ideas on how to isolate and/or fix, we could sure use help. Regards.
