To question 1: This can be done to some extent. If you have full control over the client machine, you can actually disable the according toolbar buttons and menu items (see Acrobat JavaScript Scripting Reference (formerly known as Acrobat JavaScript Object Specification)). You will also have to make sure that your config.js file (that's the one you will be writing) properly checks if you are running external or not.
Printing is a bit easier to prevent; here, you would have to set the according Security settings.
If the Acrobat on-board security settings is not sufficiently strong for your purpose, you might also have a closer look at the possibilities by DRM systems, such as FileOpen (http://www.fileopen.com).
However, keep in mind that any kind of security can be cracked.
Also, keep in mind that whenever a document is displayed in a browser, it has already been downloaded to the client machine (that applies to any kind of document, not only PDF).
To question 2: I am not really familiar with XP, but I guess that you should be able to send a kill signal to the Acrobat process.
To question 3: I am not aware of any in-browser plug-in which works under XP ... there is one around under OS X, and it would not be too difficult to create what you want under OS X.
Hope, this can help.

Trying to configure Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 (Free Download) to work in a test Kiosk using (Opera version 6.06 in KioskMode) in Windows XP Professional and have several issues.
Currently Acrobat launches when a PDF is clicked on from our website. My questions are:
1.) Can both printing and File Saving be locked down since I don't want clients trying to printer or save files to Computer?
2.) The Opera Browser has been setup to reset every 10 minutes and currently if there is active PDF(s) in this session the Browser will reset but the PDF files still stay open. Is there a way to sink Acrobat with the Opera reset?
3.) If Acrobat can't be setup as I like. Is there another PDF viewer pluggin that would work? ( And it would be nice if the viewer had no printer settings and file saves)
