What integration language do you plan to use?
What are your needs for variable data? Text? Styled? Paragraph formating? Tables? What about images? Raster only? What format(s)? Vector?
There is no single answer for this...
Once you have a good complete description of your project requirements, then it becomes easier to point you in the right directions...
